Little Craig / Burton in Kendal / Yorkshire

This project included both the conversion of the existing barn property and the introduction of a new build double garage and storage facility.
The new build was constructed from locally source materials matching the existing to maintain a seamless consistency to the site as a hollow.
The existing property had to be extensively underpinned and structurally stabilized. The existing masonry structure had many bulges and distortions due to roof spread and structural settlement.
Although this added greatly to the ascetic appearance of the property there was a danger of further movement with in the structure this was address with the introduction of fabricated steel ties connection the existing structure to the new inner shell. Therefore reinforcing and stabilizing the existing structure allowing the external character of the property to remain unaltered.
The interior of the property was sympathetically finished to a high standard with the introduction of traditional oak brace and baton doors bespoke manufactured in our own joiners shop.
The property was then brought to a high specification of insulation and thermal efficiency.
The property was equipped with under floor heating to both ground and first floor.
This property benefits from the use of reclaimed and locally sourced materials to maintain the visual integrity of this 300 year old property but with the introduction of the highest standards of thermal efficiency.
